Finding a Job in the UK

Post Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:36 pm

Hi

I have heard some horror stories about trying to find a job in the UK. Due to the tough economic times it seems like there are few jobs out there. I have heard from some friends that it has taken 3 months or more to find a job such as stocking shelves, cashier, etc. I am wondering if anyone could relay some experiences in finding a job.

Thanks in advance
:)

it is really tough! I've been here since the end of march and haven't got so much as an interview for any kind of job, and my resume isn't too bad, either. Jobs are filled days after they are posted online, and I believe that you can't trust practically any job listed on Gumtree - I think they're pretty nearly all scams there.

I've began my job search prior to leaving, so far I've gotten two interviews (over the phone) and overall a good response. My advise would be to not give up, apply for literally anything, a good start is call centres, they'll usually hire anyone and its a good way to make some easy money (about 6 or 7 pounds per hour) and get a quick job, what city are you in ?
