Finding a job

Post Mon Apr 25, 2011 2:31 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.

My DH and I are thinking on moving to Florida. He has an excellent job here in Toronto but because most of our friends live there and we are closer to our home land, we would like to give it a try.

He has an amazing CV (I'm not saying this because I'm his wife :P) but his profession is not in one of the TN Visa list.

Is there a way to get the TN Visa anyway?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Lasbi

If your husbands job is not on the TN visa list, he may want to try the H1B route if it fits comfortably within a specialized occupation.

Also, be forewarned that jobs in Florida are scarce. I currently reside in South Florida with my hubby and the unemployment rate here is among the highest in the country. We know people here who have been laid off from their jobs of 5 or 10 years because of the current economic crisis which people seem to think is long over. If your hubby has a good job in Toronto, I suggest he keep it and both of you rent or buy a vacation home out here as job wages here are also terrible.

Not meaning to discourage but we've been here over 4 years and experienced first hand how bad things are down here.
