First Time Travelling to US

Postby canon-coral » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:38 pm

I am travelling to the US through Vancouver. I understand that I will clear US Customs and Border while at YVR.

What type of questions re: criminal activity do they ask there?

I had a conditional discharge for theft 10 years, and a quick CPIC search via name only reveals no positive results.

Anything to worry about?

I havent had to travel to the states for anything - but we all have to try las vagas sometime

They don't usually ask about criminal history unless something comes up on your file when they scan your ID. If something *does* come up when they scan your passport, this could make you inadmissable to the US.

Legally, a conviction for a "crime of moral turpitude" can lead to denial of entry. Some CBP people ask if you've ever been arrested or convicted, some don't.
