Flying your pets to the UK

Post Fri Sep 28, 2007 7:40 am

So I have two little angels (dog and cat) that I couldn't imagine leaving behind. =)

I've read up on the PETS Scheme that allow you to bypass quarantine providing all the steps are followed properly. Sounds do-able.

I first checked into the micro chipping part, since this is the first step, and most vets use the 24PetWatch. Does anyone know if this particular product (ISOFDXB) is ISO certified in the UK?

My other big concern is the actual flight for my little guys. Has anyone had a personal experience with the transport of their animals? How did they do? I'm worried about them freezing, heat stroke, getting squished. (i don't know if that could even happen), no oxygen. This is a big concern. Any ease of mind from anyone would be great.

as an ex airline employee, the captain gets a list of what's in cargo (including live animals and reacts accordingly (i.e: adds heating) Also, animals are put in the bulk, but in a compartment of their own, are not transported with HAZMAT or corpses.

Anyone have any personal stories they'd like to share? How did the mirco-chip scan work out? How did the PETS Scheme work out?

Info. anyone?

No experience, but there's a thread on another forum about this that will be useful for you:
