Marmite eww my kids when they were little thought it was ok but would hate it now. I had it twice, not a favourite.

Bubble and squeak - weirdly entertaining to eat because it does actually squeak.

Custard - At BT in Cardiff they had it every day on a slow cooker, wonderful warm food.

Things to wonder about:

Sainsburys Rootbeer - two years of my four year stay I loved it because it was the only thing I could find.

American Style - not sure if UK knows what that means... as it almost was never.

Tinned hot dogs... ugh need I say more.

Combined with this was the incredibly small portions of Sour Cream. Tescos always sold them in what could best be described as individual yogurt cups.

I haven't moved there yet, but based on my last vacation to the UK, I have to add a couple:

Ice cream - you have to love Cornish cows. I was ruined for all other ice cream. A friend from Plymouth told me to try ice cream with clotted cream in St. Ives and boy! Was he right! (again, check with your cardiologist!)

Square sausages. Fried tatie scones.

Which brings me to something that makes you go "hmmm"...I read that the standard life expectancy in the UK is only one year less than in North America. Pretty interesting considering the diet and attitude about working out, isn't it?

Only have one suggestion that I wanna make but it's definitely worth it... Sticky Malt Loaf! Try the Soreen brand name, it's very good. I tried it when I visited my boyfriend and absolutely loved it! It can come with just raisins in it, or banana, or just mixed fruit. It's one of the many things I miss from over there in Liverpool (been craving it since I got back... And canada doesn't have it! ). So anyone who tries it hope you like it as much as me .

Jaffa Cakes.....LLOOOVVVEEEE!!!!! omg I could eat those all day long!
Prawn crackers aren't so bad either - I hate seafood but I liked those.

It's true about the peanut butter not being the same. I LOVE peanut butter (we're talking about bordering on addiction) and it's just not the same as what I'm used to! I am also missing goooood coffee....has anyone heard of a coffee maker here??

It's also too bad that they don't have turtles or maple syrup. While I was here visiting back in March, I had a scotched egg which wasn't too bad and spotted dick for dessert. I am wondering who came up with those names!? I tried Marmite and wasn't too big of a fan of it. There is also that jelly stuff for pork chops which I wasn't too much of a fan of. To the person who mentioned kababs....I completely forgot about those after a night out drinking!!

I saw the ED Smith canned pumpkin at The Canada Shop in Covent Garden. I got my flatmate absolutely hooked on Turtles though LOL!

We brought kraft peanut butter cause we heard they have none, but the natural peanut butter from Whole Earth at Waitrose is much better because it doesn't have the ton of sugar in it that Kraft does. Very surprised to find that the case.
Really miss certain organic products we ate in Toronto; my kids loved cheddar bunnies by Amy's. Miss Loblaws and the cheap housewares. Miss old navy, and cheap good children's clothes. Only been here 5 months, hope the yearnings diminish soon!

Partridges in Sloan Square have a loads of North American foods and products on the far side of the store, including canned pumpkin!
