Found love in the US.

Hi everyone,
so, straight to the point. I am Canadian and my boyfreind is American. The plan is me moving there with him. We want to get married, but later on...we want to make sure it's the right thing to do and we'll never know if we don't live together. I am now graduating from a Professional Photography program. My question is: is there any way I can legally work in the US? I mean, I want a VISA, but it would be way to hard and complicated to get a sponsor in photography. I don't care where i'll work, it can be in a small cafe paid minimum wage. I just want to go there for a few months and make sure me and my boyfriend are meant to be while working to pay for bills and then get married and start my career. Basically, I want to know if there's a way to be legally working for a short period of time without getting a sponsor? Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance
