That's not reporting, that's pointless talking heads filling in air time.

In fairness the Canadian military has been underfunded for years, it's only one-sixth the size of the UK armed forces but Canada has half the population of the UK.

I just don't understand how there aren't regulations about using the word "News" in your business name in the states. They clearly don't report any news - just trash.

They should call themselves "The Fox Enquirer" or something like that.

first of all it's Fox "News" -- 3rd class journalism/entertainment.

secondly the show is called "Red Eye", it's probably aired in the middle of the night with all those infomercials.

lastly, no one on the show (host and guests) have any news intelligence or merit. One of the guests is a comedian who did a film on getting extremely stoned for 30 days straight -- not exactly a knowlegable expert.

Doesn't make it any less insulting to Canadian soldiers, and those of us who have friends and family in the Canadian forces. And quite frankly, its an insult even to the American forces who are serving quite happily alongside the Canadians in Afghanistan.

I'd hardly call the programme it aired on a "news" show, (it airs after midnight I think) and would only loosely use the term to describe ANYthing on the Fox News network. It's all sensationalised crap, fear mongering and ignorance about the world in general. It's all about who can yell the loudest and be the one heard over the cacophany.
I haven't watched the clip, but I read enough about it in Canadian print news to be rather annoyed.

I realized that Fox Red Eye is a satire show, similar to VH1 Best Week Ever, The Soup on E!, The Chelsey Handler Show, etc. (but not as funny).

All US TV news media is entertainment media with the possible exception of NPR and PBS. All you ever get is police chasing cars, people dying in various ways and other crap that is of no real news value.

Or you can watch the evening news to see what the latest cure for impotence is.

Why do you think Jon Stewart has a job? The funniest thing about The Daily Show is that he does exactly the same thing as the "news" channels, except he's being honest about it being entertainment! He tore CNBC a new one.

What boggles my mind is that in the US you don't really have the option of switching channels and actually getting some real news like you can in Canada. Up here we've got BBC World, TV5 and CBC (although CBC sometimes falls into the US trap).

How you're supposed to stay abreast of actual news in the US is an interesting challenge, you have to hunt for NPR on the radio dial inbetween various loud-mouthed pundits talking total and utter crap 24/7.

Goebbels could learn some new tricks from people like Nancy Grace et al.
