French Canadians in Bristol?

Post Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:28 pm

I am due to move to RCAF Bagotville, Chicoutimi, QC in August 2012 on a Military Exchange and have been studying (Parisian) French at the Defence School of Languages. My course has now finished and I will be woking in Bristol until I depart for Canada. I would like to continue to improve my French, and importantly begin to learn the nuances of French Canadian, and so am looking for someone who would be willing to teach/converse a few times a week perhaps; payment, times, location etc would all be refined later. Anybody available or know of someone who might be?

Many thanks.

Well, I really do like Bristol. And the people here are quite friendly. The only thing that bothers me is how much the average Brit wants to leave their country permanently. Even people who weren't born here want to get out as fast as they can. I don't see what they're talking about. The one thing that I will say about this country though is that it's INCREDIBLY RACIST. White Brits are really pissed about non European foreigners. And they are very open about it. It's quite shocking. However, in all fairness to them, a huge percentage of the foreigners who do come here make ZERO attempt to adapt to the British way of life. In Canada, most foreigners try to blend in a bit, but not so much over here. I guess it's their revenge against the British Empire.

Hope this help :)
