I've successfully obtained a 3-yr TN at the boarder. The entire process was rather quick and painless except for the waiting part (I waited at the backroom for 45min before I get to see an officer and the actual interview was less than 10min).

From my experience, the most important pieces of information they looked for were:

1. Education background
2. Past work experience
3. Job/company description

In all, they wanted to know if you are qualified for the job that's being stated on the job offer letter. They gave me no hassle and the officer didn't ask me anything else other than the ones related to the above three points.

Maybe they've already run some checks on my background during that 45min waiting time and they didn't find anything that makes me inadmissible to the U.S. and that made the actual interview quick

One thing I didn't expect is that the officer was kinda mocking me about bringing so many document with me. He said he didn't even understand what half of them are for and he only looked at my diploma(original copy) and job offer letter.

Anyways, I am just glad that I can get this visa issue out of the way.

That's nothing. Really I was almost at the point of slitting my wrists once I was waiting so long, then I had to stand at the counter for an hour and a half while they fiddled about, my legs nearly gave out.

I think they purposely make you wait for a long time. It's like a psychological game. If you are "guilty" of something, you have to sit there and wait and sit with your "guilt," making you more anxious, making it easier for the CBP officers to read you and call you out on it. That's just my theory anyway.

Well that time was because it was just after Christmas and they were having all sorts of IT problems.
