From Toronto, Ontario, moving to Mexico City

Hello!

Really happy I came across this website! It has been so helpful so far.

I have been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years now living in Toronto, and we have decided that after we finish school in the next year, we plan on going back to mexico city, (where he is from.)
I love mexico city, live on and off there during our summer/christmas vacations, and so am thrilled to be moving there.
I do have a few questions though about the process of moving there/settling in.
I am curious to know if I can start the process of moving there, without having a job set up for me there.. or do I need a job set up before I can start the process?
Also, we plan on getting married in mexico within the first 2 years of moving there, so would that make a difference when filling out my applications?
The ideal situation would be for me to move there and begin looking for a job once I arrive, since I am financially stable enough to do so, as well as, I can speak Spanish.

Any information someone could provide me with would be amazing, or at least point me in the right direction of where to find it.

Moving from Toronto to Mexico City. To move furniture (household contents) is between $3000 - $10,000.

In regards to marriage, it does make no difference if you plan on getting married here.

Addressing the question about having a job or not before arriving...

Not necessary. If you do plan to work here eventually, you'll have to deal with immigration, regardless of whether you are sponsored by an employer or if you work independently. For that you will need to have your degree and/or other documents qualifying you for the work you want to do. I'll give you an example from my field in English education.

To teach English here at a school, you'll need a work visa which is renewed annually. To qualify for it, you'll need to show a degree in English, a diploma in TEFL, or something related to what you are going to teach.

If you are qualified in another field, same thing. Make sure you have your degree(s) legalized through foreign affairs and the Mexican embassy/consulate in Canada.

If the paperwork is a problem, you can always have your boyfriend sponsor you for a visa.

In any case, you don't need the job before you come...your tourist visa is good for 6 months and if you don't want to work, you'll only need to leave the country every 6 months and return for a new tourist visa.
