Funds required for UK working holidaymaker visa

Post Tue Jul 29, 2008 7:45 pm

I am a Canadian applying for a UK working holidaymaker visa and planning to settle in London. Can anyone suggest what amount of money I should prove that I have? I looked into the SWAP program (but will not be applying through them) and they require that you have CAD 2500, should that be sufficient? Thank you.

I applied for a WHM last April, I claimed $4000-$6000 and sent in recent bank statements to prove it(and statements were printed before i bought any plane tickets). When i sent in my application online, i got approval before the actual documents would have got to ottawa, and half of the stuff they didn't even open, as a few documents were in sealed envolopes. Hope that helps, just remember the cdn $ is worth little under half the pound, and cost of living especially in London is expensive!

good news: the loonie is worth slightly more than half a pound now, since the pound has been dropping like a stone on the currency markets.
