			<title>Bringing Car BACK to canada</title>
			<link>http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/bringing-car-back-to-canada-vt7644.html</link>

			<description>&#x3C;h5&#x3E;&#x3C;a href="http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/general-discussion-vf9.html" title="General discussion"&#x3E;General discussion&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/h5&#x3E;

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Bringing Car BACK to canada&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

I moved to US (NC) in 2000 and also moved my car with me (at the time it was not paid off)
It was paid off in Nov 2003
Now Nov 2009 I am moving back to Canada.
Problem I do not have a title as in Canada there are no Titles. Ford Credit Canada simply sent me aletter stating that it is paid off. NC DMV have told me that they issued a title and sent it to Ford Credit Canada, who have claimed no to have received it (back in 2000)

Ford Credit Canada can send me a Release of the Lean on my Car, will that be enough to cross the border.. The US side requires a title but Canada had no title system.

On the Canadian side I spoke to the Canada Border agency they told me that if the car was originally registered in Canada and I have the original registration then I can simply just go to the Border and tell them that I am bringing the car back. - is this true do I still need the US side export document or similar paper?

When they say registration in Canada they mean the plates - correct?

What Can I do to get the title as Canada has no titles?

Aany help is appreciated

Jawahar

&#x3C;b&#x3E;TN visa approved with I-140 EB-3 pending&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

First of all, I want to thanks Agnelson for giving me some courage to do it so, you were really right of what you have informed me. I went to the border Massena, NY last Monday and applied my first TN and I was approved for 3 yrs.
Though thinking that it won't work because I have a pending I-140 well, it wasn't? I tried and I did it..So I hope everyone who didn't tried it yet and whom who has the same case as I, try to go to the border and apply.
I was maybe lucky because the immigration oficers were nice but still, I encountered a lot of questions related to me and my job, it wasn't easy..they held me there about 2 hrs.My advice to everyone is to have everything ready, be honest of what you present otherwise, they have no reason to deny you. Goodluck

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Tele-commuter wanting to move to europe...&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hello all,

I work from home for an American company doing research. I fly there once or twice a year to show my face but all of my work is done from home...

I backpacked europe for 2 months before I started and fell in love with the lifestyle in Italy and Spain... so much so that I want to move there.

I'm looking for a starting point.. a document or a website where someone has done the same.. what documents will I need to acquire to accomplish this?  I was once thrown in the drunk tank a few years ago, otherwise my record is clean...  &#x3C;img src="http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/images/smilies/doubt.gif" alt=":doubt:" title="Doubt" /&#x3E;

Thoughts? Suggestions?

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Question about US Business Trip&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hi,
I am traveling to the US from Vancouver for 2 nights, 3 days to visit a store that my company operates out of McChord Air Force Base.

I was told by 2 border guards that since I am not being paid by an American company, that it is not a problem. I was just curious if I require any other documentation before I attempt to cross the border (other then my itinerary and passport)?

Thanks &#x3C;img src="http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /&#x3E;

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Registering my car in Ontario&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hello...
  I actually am temporarily living in Canada while my boyfriend goes to school. We are from New York State. Anyways, today I registered my car with the department of vehicles, and I was surprised that they took the title for my car. Does anyone know what will happen when we want to move back to New York State? Can I get my title back? Thanks everyone for your help!

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Permanent  Escape, hopeless?&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

I would really like to leave Canada forever; to somewhere warm, rural,(hopefully english) and peaceful?

I have a home in Nova Scotia, of little value, and an income of enough to live on(and have been for years), ($500 mo), and I spend 6 months in the US every year(cheaper than paying for oil, etc. in Canada).

I have no interest in working only 'retiring'(see voluntary simplicity)... Any places/suggestions where and HOW one could migrate with a low income, and 1 year Cdn Community College? Belize sounded interesting initially, but their crime rate and malaria are not selling points.

Seems Australia, NZ, and those jewels are out because of minimum requirements. How I loved Australia...

Living is not the problem, only! legal permission.

&#x3C;b&#x3E;US to Canada for one month: do I need proof of funds?&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hi all, I'm a US Citizen. Am I going to be asked to provide proof of funds for a 30-day vacation (spent mostly traveling with a 30-day Via Rail pass)? If so, would having $1100cad suffice? (I'll have much more than that from residual payments from my work--though I'll receive this money &#x3C;span style="font-weight: bold"&#x3E;after&#x3C;/span&#x3E; my vacation has begun.) I'll also have a ticket back to the states.

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Important Tax Questions for Dropshippers - Home based busine&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hello all,

I'm in the process to incorporate a LLC company in Florida or in Delaware, I'm checking with my accounting where is the best option. I'm not located in the US and I'm not a US resident. Our business operation is E-Commerce and mainly using Drop Shipping service from our providers.

Questions:

1. I have drop shipping suppliers in different states. Some of them charge me taxes when shipping to their states. In this case I also need to charge the sales tax to my customer. If I incorporate in Florida, do I need to incorporate too in Utah for example? In the case that not, how I report to the IRS about these taxes that aren't in my state?

2. There are big differences when incorporating in Florida or Delaware? My accounting says not. I heard that mainly the big companies incorporate in Delaware. I'm looking for the best solution in order to pay less taxes.

3. If I use Amazon fulfillment to purchase some products in quantities and I have been incorporate in Florida for example, having stock on Amazon doesn't means that I have Nexus in the state where the stock is located?.

4. Someone can tell in which bank I can make electronic bank transfers within the US with the less fees or even without?

5.Suggestions for the bank where is easier to receive a credit card as a non US resident having a US based company?

Thanks.

Daniel.

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Best South American country to work and stay in&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hi. New to here. I have travelled a bit before, but I am looking to visit and work in a South or Central American country for six months to a year. Maybe more if I want to stay longer. I am trying to find out which would be the safest country to visit, with the most stable political situation. Also one where a Canadian can easily obtain a work visa and if not that, where it would be easiest to find under-the-table work. Or is that not a good idea?

			<title>Determining Resident status prior to our Move</title>

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Determining Resident status prior to our Move&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

Hi,

We are moving to Belize in a month, including my wife and 2 kids. I have not yet determined what my status will be after I leave and hope someone can help me based on the following conditions.

- Canada does not have a tax treaty with Belize
- I own a Canadian home and will be renting it out
- I have a bank account and several credit cards which I plan on retaining
- I will be working part time for a company in Canada while in Belize

Based on that,

1. I am probably considered a resident for tax purposes right?
2. If that is the case, do I need to file any kind of form/return when I leave the country or just keep reporting my world income on my annual return?
3. Staying as a resident for tax purposes could possibly benefit me or not?
4. I understand that child tax benefits apply if you are a 'resident for tax purposes'. If I'm paying all the proper taxes I imagine I would still qualify for that.
5. Do I have to do anything different when it comes to renting out my canadian home?

Income in Belize will be very small, and that coupled with the exchange rate factor will result in a low income compared to Canada's standards. Therefore I don't see paying taxes on my world income as a big issue.

&#x3C;b&#x3E;Canadian Expat eligability when living in Antigua&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

I just registered to the site which I find informative and I am trying to reach out to the group for some guidance. Not sure how to proceed now. My questions is that my father who has been living in Antigua WI for the past 30 years has also lived and worked over 10 years in Canada as a landed immigrant until he moved to Antigua. I would like to know if he qualifies for pension benefits and disability insurance. He never renewed his passport or other papers in at least 20 years and I am trying to help him find answers if he can still benefit from pension and disability insurance. He had a stroke about 5 years ago and is disabled and cann work in his field since he is particially paralized. I would like to know if he can enjoy any of the benefits Canadian&#8217;s living here enjoy. When he lived here he we were living in Montreal Quebec and will be turning 65 next year. I am wondering if he qualifies for disability insurance now and if he qualifies for a pension when he turns 65. Any assistance or direction to find answers would be great.

			<title>US Citizenship by descent</title>

&#x3C;b&#x3E;US Citizenship by descent&#x3C;/b&#x3E;

As I understand, the US has a five-year physical presence provision (with restrictions) in place to enable a foreign born US citizen to pass on citizenship to their child even though that child may him/herself may be born abroad.

The question is... In the absence of exit controls how does the US determine the length of time an individual has been in the country? I see that the US provision does not require residency, only physical presence. Even time spent on vacation can be counted toward the five-year requirement.

The reason I ask, is that the Canadian government just issued a reply to the House of Commons Standing Committee's recommendation to enact a residency provision for Canadians born abroad. The reply simply states that they cannot support a residency provision, as it would be impossible to enforce given the fact that Canada does not have exit controls.

It seems to me that the US is in the same boat and I'm curious as to how they handle the issue.
