Getting Freelancer's Insurance?

Hi guys,

I'm on a TN visa and as such an considered a contractor. Therefore I don't have any health insurance. And it looks like I can't get an SSN for another few weeks which is making it tough with insurance companies. Anyone have any suggestions for a good temporary solution while I'm waiting for my SSN to come through?

File Form W-7 with the IRS and choose option "a" on the form, but I suspect it will take just as long to get an ITIN.
