Getting mortgage with TN

I am working on TN since September. We want to buy a home as principle residence and we plan to put down 30% on around 600K property.

We went to BOA to get a quote today and the mortgage representative told us we wouldn't be able to get a loan before we have 2 years credit history first. My income is enough, just not enough credit history.

We are very disappointed, is there any way to get around this? Where did you guys get the mortgage without being here for that long?

Its their own rules. Getting a mortgage is tough these days -- you may have heard of the recent financial crisis? -- it was caused by too many easy mortgages.

Shop around. Your 30% DP should open doors.

Shop around. Or go through a mortgage broker.

I put down less than 30% on $400K property last year. Got a mortgage from Wells Fargo no problem with great rates.

Try RMC Vanguard in Houston. Direct Lenders, Excellent service. Will tell you upfront if it will work or not. We had no problem with TN visa and H1 visa. We closed our loan in 3 weeks and transferred to BOA.
