I have a resident visa for my Middle Eastern country of which i have been living 6 months now with my family but due to issues we are returning to Canada. Most documents i seen dealing with citizens returning to Canada after one year or more.
Does anyone have any advice for my return to Canada after such a short "away" stay? What do i have to deal with at the airport etc.
Thanks
andre

Depends on what you did when you left, i.e. did you notify the CRA you were no longer resident, did you take all your personal effects with you. If you just left for six months you don't really have to do anything at all. If you paid income tax in the country where you were working, you will have to claim a foreign tax credit when you file your T1, and of course you have to declare everything you earned while you were there and pay income tax on it.

There is no way of effectively claiming you were "non-resident" for such a short period, even if you told the CRA you were.

And get ready for a bit of reverse culture shock -- for me it was more of a "change" to get used to Canada again than to get used to the foreign country to begin with!
All the best,

Actually you must work first in that country before you go to in canada just save a money in your work and more money for the food and spent more in your life consuming everyday.
