Going through Buffalo instead of Pearson?

Post Mon Sep 13, 2010 11:07 am

Hi all, I plan on applying for my TN soon (as a Management Consultant, uh-oh!), and after reading some posts here I have a couple of questions...

I was thinking that I could go the the Buffalo border in advance of my actual move to the US to process my application - that way, if there is a problem and I need to revise my application, I don't waste money on a flight out of Pearson airport.

Is this allowable, or can I only apply for my TN as I try to go across the border when I move?

Secondly, by applying at the Buffalo border, will Pearson CBP give me a hard time the next time I fly back to Canada to visit family for the holidays, etc, since they might think I purposefully tried to avoid them when I applied? I've seen some comments here that Pearson CBP is not too friendly these days... :(

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

You typically, be it at tairport or POE, need to be "on your way to work" when you first apply. But most POEs will allow you to apply a few days early.

go to http://forums.immigration.com/forumdisp ... -TN-Status

for the best TN forum, and ways to get around this issue.

Once you have TN, the various POEs are not going to quibble with where you got it.
