H1 B visa for International Medical Graduates from Canada

Post Wed Feb 01, 2012 6:01 pm

Hello
I am a Canadian Citizen (I have both the Canadian citizenship and the Canadian passport). I got my citizenship by virtue that my father is a Canadian citizen. I was born and lived all my life in Pakistan. I came to the US in June 2011, then after that spent about a month in the US, went to Canada and a spent a month there, came back to the US and stayed in the US for 6 months. I am a medical graduate from Pakistan. During this period I appeared in this years match for medical residency in the US. Luckily I have got a residency from a place in Texas and they are offering me both H1B or J1 visa. I want to take the H1 visa.

What are my chances of getting an H1 B visa? Meaning for someone who has lived for such a short period in Canada. I am currently living in Ontario and doing a job.

Thanks a lot
A. Moiz

H1-B is not reserved for Cdns, so where you were born, lived, educated, etc has no bearing on H1-B.

TN on the other hand, is for Cdn and Mexican citizens. You are a Cdn citizen, this you can try for TN.
