H1B hassles

Post Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:03 pm

Does anyone know what an employer has to do to file an H1B for you?
Is it a lot of hassles? Is there a lot of money involved to pay for you and the employer?

If there is a lot of hassles and money for the H1B visa, it would be difficult for an employer to go through it for you

Assuming you're eligible for a TN, don't waste your time and money on an H-1B. The filing fees alone for a small company are
$1,570 and your chances of getting the petition past the cap is about 1 in 4.

There will probably be over 200,000 petitions received on April 1 for a 66,000 cap.

Many socially irresponsible companies and lawyers file H petitions in the hundreds or even thousands.

Unethical lawyers file duplicate petitions for the same person.

A large number of petitions are used up unethically by small staffing companies who claim to have jobs lined up for the beneficiaries but its really speculative employment.

Its now a lottery system.

The whole H-1B system has turned into a joke.

All TN eligible Canadians should wipe away their memory of the H-1B.

Also: despite the Labor Dept. certification many employers in reality pay substandard salaries to people on H-1B.
