H1B Residency Requirement & Interview

Post Sat Nov 01, 2008 9:58 pm

Hi,

I am leaving soon (I am Canadian) to the U.S. with my approved H1B notice. How much time should I give myself for the interview at the port of entry? Is the interview very long if everything has been approved?

Another quick question: Is there a residency requirement to stay in the U.S. for H1B visa holders? Do I need to live in the U.S.? Can I make 4-5 trips a month to my employer in the U.S. and not reside in the U.S.?

Any help would be appreciated.

John

If you already have the approved visa, then there really isn't much of an "interview" at the POE, other than digital photos and finger scans.

No, I don't think you actually have to live in the US.

You don't have to reside in the US, H-1B is also multiple entry so it's not a problem.
Steve.
