I sumbitted my ancestry visa application forum on friday, i was told over the phone that if i mailed it before the 29 of novembre that i would still fall under the old system and NOT have to submit biometric information.
I mailed my application on friday the 23 nov and got confirmation from canada post that they received it on monday 26 nov at 9:00 am. on their website it says

"Please note that Worldbridge is NOT able to provide information on the status of an application once it has been submitted. You will receive e-mail updates from the British High Commission at each stage of the process, including receipt of your application and once a decision has been made."

i have not received any confirmation that they have received it and it is now wednesday morning!
i am getting really worried as I have a plane ticket to return to the uk next week (long story as i was on a whm visa but came home to apply for ancestry) i know they say not to purchase a ticket but i have purchased one with a changeable date.i am worried i have no way to find out where my documents are and know if i need to change my travel date. Anyone know how i can contact the high commission and NOT worldbridge as they are clueless and not even calling somewhere in canada!

I realize this doesn't help the OP, but my experience was as follows:
- submit application for Ancestry Visa five days before system changeover . but only electronic apps accepted, so went that route despite having a printed app in hand;
- receive e-mail notifying me I must make an appointment for biometrics . despite the fact the program has not yet 'begun';
- make appointment for earliest date (five days later);
- arrive at my appointment to be processed . takes about fifteen minutes, despite the fact that the pleasant staff seem to have never done this before, and have no clue about an Ancestry visa;
- leave my appointment with instructions to mail the sealed envelope given me to the High Commission . only mail, despite the fact I'm parked less than two blocks from the Commission;
- mail it in priority post;
- get an e-mail 24 hours later confirming receipt;
- get an e-mail 24 hours after that confirming issuance & shipping of visa;
- receive a priority post package including all my original documents and my visa . 10 days after submitting my electronic application.

I did receive my visa on tuesday the 4 december, after i phoned world bridge and got them to get in contact with the high commission.
I didn't have to do electronic app or give biometric data, even though they received my application 2 days before the new process started.
also i never received a single email from them stating that they had received my documents, receievd one about 2 hours after i hassled the lady at world bridge to contact them for me and have them phone me asap because i didnt know if they had receieved my documents or not! surprise surprise they approved it and it was ready to be mailed, they took 3 buisness days to put it in the mail to me aswell.

Which reminds me that there was no place in the form at Worldbridge to list my e-mail -- the clerk did know this and asked me to write it in red on the form and sign the addition.
