Have TN Visa, want a second - What if the second is denied

Post Fri Aug 15, 2008 12:17 pm

Hello, I can't seem to find info on this.

If someone had a TN Visa but wanted to obtain a second job, simultaneously, and applied for a second TN, what would happen if the second TN was denied? Does this hinder the first TN in any way?

Also, out of curiosity, when I cross the border on a current TN, do I have to bring ALL my documents again if I'm not renewing or just flash them my passport with my current TN form? My fiance, who's on an O-1, always brings all his documentation with him when he leaves the US for a visit, worried that he'll get interrogated on his way back.

Thanks!

In theory all you need is your multiple entry I-94, might be an idea to have some sort of evidence that you still have "non-immigrant" intent if you get interrogated though, as there was someone on here who was denied re-entry on a valid TN-1, I think they said it was because their car had US plates and they had a US DL so USCIS didn't believe they were there temporarily.

You can have multiple TN-1s, because they were designed for people to enter temporarily and work in the US, e.g. an accountant in Canada might have multiple US clients and thus have multiple TN-1s. You can't hold a TN-1 and some other immigration category simultaneously though.
Steve.
