Hello,

If you have a child in the USA, can you get a Canadian passport or Canadian citizenship? We are about to start a family and I would like my child to be Canadian, at least on paper. :)

Appreciate any feedback,

Alexandra

After the child is born you have to register the birth with the Canadian consulate closest to where you live in the US.

Check their website for more info.

Your child will be a Canadian Citizen at birth provided that one of the parents are a Canadian Citizen. To obtain a citizen certificate go to the following site. I sent in the application, paid online and received my son's certificate about 8 months later.
