Having trouble with visa4UK site...

Post Wed Apr 30, 2008 8:56 pm

Sorry to keep posting questions, but I've run into yet another problem and am hoping someone has an answer! :) I'm trying to apply for my WHM visa online but the application asks you to list the places you've travelled outside of Canada for the past 10 years, plus your travels to the UK. I've travelled quite a bit over the years, and I'm finding that the box they give me to list this information won't allow me to write anything past what I assume is a certain word limit (therefore, I can't list what they're asking me for!). Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

Thanks!

I've just answered my own question by calling Worldbridge (ugh, expensive!), and thought people might like to know the answer. The woman on the phone said that if your answer doesn't fit in the box, at the end of the application, after you've printed it out, you're able to add to your answers using a pen. It'd be nice if they added that sort of information on the website so we didn't have to pay for it!

I feel your pain, jeesun - I've phoned for two separate things, both of which were very unclear on the website. It's got me nervous about whether my application will be accepted or not!

I feel exactly the same way lynndyhop! What sorts of questions did you have when you called? Maybe we can help each other with this application thing :).

My first question was to clarify Right of Abode eligibility. My dad was born in the UK but has Canadian Citizenship. I wasn't clear on what it meant to have a parent who was a British citizen - is it by passport? Birth? Turns out it's by birth. This meant that I wanted to cancel my application for Ancestry, so then I needed to know how to request a refund for my first application, and to confirm whether or not I'd get my $$ back.

2nd time was to clarify how long the processing took for Right of Abode - up to 12 weeks. Sigh - my initial impression from the first call was that it would take the same as Ancestry - up to 5 days to process once they have received it. Unfortunately no. Which meant canceling a trip at the end of May, so be aware that the information you get from the phone calls isn't always consistent.

I think that is why this site is even here though, right? So we can learn about the experiences of others and know what to look for.

Hope that helps!
Lynndyhop.
