Hayes, Bromley (London)

Hi
New to this site. Moving to Hayes in 3 weeks, from Ottawa.
Any inside info on that area?

Bromley is a suburb of London, sorry ddon't know what zone it is in, probably zone 4 or 5? I've been to the general area, pretty nice residential, maybe not the most exciting, but can't say I know it that well.
The tube doesn't go out that way, but the train into central London is probably only about 20 mins. There're also buses connecting to stations closer to central London.

I live in SE9 area in London and Hayes is not too far from there. The Glades shopping centre is very popular, especially at Christmastime. The area is quite a nice one and I prefer it to Central London.

Hayes is a suburb which looks all the same, the same houses, the same streets etc. I live in Enfield North London, which probably is like Hayes. There are 2 places called Hayes, one is in South London and there is another Hayes in West London. The good thing about the burbs is it is easier to escape to the countryside when ur fed up of the city.

Hayes is probably a good place to live if you want a quiet life centred around your home. Although it's classed as London it's quite distant from the centre, with only a stopping train service, so you won't get any metropolitan buzz.

Nearest big centre is Bromley which has good shopping, a theatre etc. Also a fair selection of bars, clubs and restaurants, but nitelife in most areas like this can be an acquired taste - or one most people hope they will never acquire!

With a car, it's quite easy to get out into the Kent countryside which is quite pretty.
