Any advice please!

I have an ancestry visa which entitles me to work in the UK for up to 4 years. Last year I worked here and was covered by my Alberta Health insurance. Unfortunately this year I am not covered by them. Any ideas how to go about it here? Or is their health system totally different and it won't cost much if I need to go to a doctor?

Speaking of doctors - do you think it is a MUST to register with one or is it okay to just rely on walk-ins?

Find a doctor in your neighbourhood and see if they are accepting new patients . Once you get accepted on their patient list, they will apply for an NHS number for you. You will be entitled to NHS benefits - ie/ free medical care.

(Or, if you already have a GP, then you can do it through them).
