I just arrived in London on Saturday and things are going smoothly so far, I was able to find a retail management job and a place to live (Acton) right away so I'm so happy. Just a heads up to anyone heading over, go through 1st Contact London to open your bank account. I did this yesterday, and today, I have a savings card, a cash card and a credit card for HSBC.... it's worth the 30pounds.

wow that's impressive! i wish i had known that, i had so much trouble opening a bank account here, and there was no chance of getting a debit card or credit card. i wonder if it's worth switching now?
