Hello fellow canadians!

Hello fellow Canadians!

I feel I've fallen in the immigration gap.
Why does it seem impossible to find information about certain subjects! ARRRGGhhhh! Pleaseeee.let me talk to another human being and not those 'polite robot voices on the phone.! :x

I feel better knowing I'm not the only frustrated one.

This is my situation.maybe someone will have the answers.

I'm a Canadian that has been living in the U.K. with a permanent residency for 6 years.I'm thinking of going to Canada for a while to see if i want to move back.(i feel lonely without family here sometimes)or if i want to continue living here in the U.K.
(Although the cost of life is ridiculous! I mean have you seen the price of those tiny houses!?)

My questions are 1) How long can i go back to Canada for? 2) Can i work? I'm still a Canadian citizen after all.
3)If i can work do i have to apply for a work visa?

So that's it. My 3 little questions no immigration site or robot voice has been able to answer.

:)

Once permanent residence (properly known as indefinite leave to remain) has been granted, there are no longer any immigration related restrictions on the work or business you may do in the UK, and no time limits on your stay in the UK.

You should note that to keep your permanent residence you should not spend longer than two years outside the UK. You should maintain ties to the UK and should consider the UK as your home. If you continue to only spend short periods of time in the UK over many years it is likely that there will come a time when you will lose your indefinite leave to remain in the UK. It is therefore beneficial in most cases to apply for UK citizenship. You can normally apply for naturalisation as an UK citizen one year after being granted indefinite leave to remain and as long as you meet the residence requirements.

good response from sleepy! As long as you've not renounced your Canadian citizenship/passport, your SIN number is still valid in Canada but you will probably have to contact the Canadian Embassy in the UK just to confirm there aren't any niggling details you need to do prior to moving back.

Have a look on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.html for information.

Oh my god.I arrived on a 5 year UK Ancestry Visa and have been here for just 3 months and I am going crazy! I made major mistakes in my life but I was hoping this wasn't one although it's turning out to be that way it seems.UGH.
I feel totally alone.no friends in sight.no one is into the Canuck humor and way of life and they just won't let you in as a friend. The man I came to be with is more into video games and his buddies then me now that I moved across the world to be with him. My mistake obviously, he said he loved me LOL.
I'm thinking about throwing in the towel and heading home.
Anyone else feel this way? I'm 37, seperated from marriage and I have three sons back home who I miss dearly but are with their father who is likely to never let me bring them over here.
I have to be 'self-sufficient" for a year to sponsor dependants over here but now that the odds are stacking against me I may as well go back and get custody of them the easy way.
Any one out there feel like being my therapist for a day? LOL

I forgot to mention that I got offered a job finally after applying for months at a nice company and need a place to live I suppose since loverboy isn't working out.
Does anyone know of a site that someone like me can go to to find a suitable place to live?
If I don't see any feedback then I guess I have my answers LOL.
