Here, here! I couldn't have said it better. And when I am in Canada the site also helps me feel more connected to the rest of the planet instead of living only in my "all Canadian" bubble! Those of you who are back "home" in Canada now, after having lived overseas, can any of you feel along? Sometimes I just wish to be "the different one" again!

i'm a candadian that lives in baja del mar, rosarito and i absolutely love it. i got a really good deal on my house and looks like a lot of people are starting to move down here. far enough from downtown to avoid the hussle and bussle but also a short cab ride away if i want a night on the town.

To answer your question, we own a real estate office in Playa del Carmen. I am also a writer and a life coach but I do that work over the internet or phone so that I am not conducting business in Mexico. Being eligible to work here is probably the hardest part of living in Mexico. You would need a work permit from the government called an FM3. To get it you need a company to sponsor you or you need to show you have the abilities and financial means to start a business. They do not want foreigners taking jobs away from Mexican Nationals (totally understandable)so you need to show you are 'special'. It is probably best to check out options the next time you visit your girlfriend. Hope that helps! Suzanna

Hello Suzana. Informative post. Do you have a link in English that would provide the necessary information we need to qualify for starting a business of finding a job in Mexico? Although I'm learning Spanish at an alarming rate and will be starting school in January, reading official information is still a stretch for me.
