HELP! Ancestry Visa

HELP! Ancestry Visa

Postby ukboundz » Tue Feb 10, 2009 8:32 pm

My Grandfather was born in Argentina but was registered as a British Citizen as both his parents were born in the UK and moved to Argentina for 2 years. Gave Brith to my grandfather then 2 years later moved back to the UK(I know sucks).

Can I still get a Ancestry Visa? The Visa says grandparent must be born in the UK. Is this still considered born in the UK? As he was registered as a UK citizen.

If I remember correctly, you have to show his birth certificate with proof of his citizenship (so usually that's a citizenship card or something). The grandparent has to be a British Citizen.. not just born in the UK. I think... I'm fairly certain that's correct, though, it should be on the list of 'stuff to go with application/requirements' on the goverment website.

I'm wondering the same thing, because I've been checking the websites and it says "born in the UK". My Grandfather received citizenship later when he moved there. Can somebody confirm this?

Thanks!!
