Yes, I was in Canada when the H process started, thinking that the lawyer and staffing firm would have submitted ALL the proper paperwork under premium processing, and that I would have had my H1B approved by January 1st (when I knew we had to come down for my husbands job anyway). But they waited until USCIS made a RFE asking for a letter of eligibility from the state, proving I was eligible for a teacher's license. Why the law firm did not have all that ready to go when they had MORE than enough time, I do not understand. ANYHOO, I just got an e-mail that USCIS has now approved the H1B!! Yeah! I don't know how long it will take to get the paperwork to me or even if it goes directly to me or to the lawyer's first but either way, yes, it's going to cost me the
airfare and no, they are not going to pay for it
