HELP: I have Green Card, not wife, can we both move to USA

I have been working in the USA (commuting daily) for 12 years, got my Green Card 6 years ago, but have not activated it yet as I have waited for daughter to finish school. My wife does not have a green card. We have our house for sale in Canada now and want to move my wife and I there soon.

As long as my wife does not apply for a job, and only be a house wife, is she allowed to follow me to live in the USA? If this is not a default, is there something that can be done withing a few months to alt least get her the ability to live there with me? Should I see some type of lawyer?

Thanks so much in advance, I'm very worried after reading some of these posts.

When I got my Green Card years ago, my wife got hers too. Since we did not move right away to the USA, I did not lose mine as it can be used as a commuter status until I move. We had to inform the "Consulate General of the United States of America" we were not moving so I believe my wifes green card became invalid. They did say she could re-apply with a far less wait. Does this help?
