Help, my love can't come home!

We had our wedding on the 15th in Canada. Now I'm waiting for the marriage certificate to be mailed. As I was explaining the procedure to my wife, she brought up a interesting question. She asked, even if we had all the documentation wouldn't it be more cost effective to get a lawyer to do it for you? Is it really common for people to get denied? We all see lots of negative posts, because people are in need of help; the ones whom collected their K3 visas aren't always going to post back telling good news.

Shes mostly concerned about the interview (In that case the lawyer wouldn't be in the mix).

Once again, see http://www.visajourney.com where I'm quite certain you will find dozens upon dozens of positive outcomes sans lawyers. Personally, we started out with lawyers. The first one did absolutely nothing. Not a blessed thing. For 6 months she had our paperwork, then sent it back saying she was closing her practice. And no, she did not refund our money. The second one first sent all the paperwork to the wrong USCIS office. But I noticed when it was returned after rejected, that his office hadn't even copied the forms correctly from what we had given them.

NO ONE will care about your own case more than you will. All a lawyer is going to do is have you fill out the forms for them, and then they'll send it in. They'll take your money, but there's not really anything they can do for you that you can't do yourself. The only reason you *might* need a lawyer if either one of you has a criminal record that would require a waiver or additional paperwork of some sort.

No idea how a lawyer would be more cost effective, when most of them are going to charge you about $5000 for the privledge of slowing down the process for you.

It is VERY rare for a Can/Am couple to be denied a CR1. The only reason usually for denial is if the US half does not have enough income to support their new spouse. Or if one of them lies on a form somewhere and they are found out.

Go to VisaJourney. Lots of people there with horror stories about lawyers. And the majority of them, like me, end up firing the lawyer and doing it themselves.

Wow Reba, what an experience you had.

I think in essence if you worry too much, things could really end up going the way you don't anticipate.

Visa Journey is very useful so I think (Vein) should use it for further inquiries in regards to marriage sponsorship. It will save you tons of money if you do it yourself!

So after a very long wait to get our marraige certificate almost 3 months! We finally have it and are now almost ready to send in our 130, but I have a few questions, Im going to be taking the train to canada just after the new year to see my wife and I am hoping to bring her back with me to stay for a month or so in the states, but we still have the problem that she has No ties to canada, Is it silly of us to think she will get over the border this time? Is it even worth the trouble to try?
And if so is there no other way that she can come home to the states for visits Now, instead of waiting till the visa is approved.
Also does it make any diffrence if its by air train or car?

by car would be the least expensive, if she is denied entry (which is likely I'm afraid if she has no ties to Canada), she will not be refunded airfare or train fare.

Iv been looking at time lines for the CR-1 and the K-3, avg 334 days till interveiw for the CR-1 and avg 252 days till interveiw for the K-3 am I looking at the right dates for the most recent times. For some reason we had it in our head the visa would only take a few months.(wishful thinking I guess)
So I know youv all answered this question a billion times but,
If we go the K-3 way it will be more expensive in the end but How much sooner can i be with my husband becouse i just cant do 334 days without. Iv got myself very confused with all these diffrent visa'a and times.
So by my understanding a K-3 will get me into the states...in 252 days
While a CR-1 334 days

there are too many variables for us to be able to give you a definitive number of days. The only thing you can do is look at the processing times for the petitions, then look at the processing times for the visa interview, and take your best guess.
