Help!-TN renew questions

My TN expires on 6.12. I just mailed I129 for renewal beginning of May. I haven't got any receipt number.
1. If I don't get a receipt number before 6.12, am I out of status?

2. I didn't file my child's renewal at the same time. His TD will expire 6.12 as well. Is it too late to file I 539 now given there is only two weeks left?
