HELP*** UK YMS MAINTENANCE FUNDS QUESTION

Post Sat Jul 24, 2010 9:42 pm

Hey,

I was just wondering if you could answer a quick question for me. When applying for my Youth Mobility visa to the UK and presenting my maintenance funds documentation would it matter that if for 3 days during the 3 month time period my bank account had 1583 pounds (Day 1), 1593 pounds (Day 2) and 1599 pounds (Day 3) *These numbers are according to the exchange rate that day using the Oanda currency converter* ? It was just three consecutive days where my funds had dropped slightly below 1600 pounds. This was the only period this happened during the whole three month period. Do you know if this will cause any issues when applying for my visa? Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help!

No, shouldn't matter at all. They will just really want to know what you have now. I don't even remember if I had 3 months of bank statements. I may have, but the most important thing I had was a complete account summary from my TD savings and chequing account and visa account with a stamp from the bank on it to prove it is genuine. All on one sheet. Told the teller what I was doing and she suggested a printoff showing my balances and then stamped it.

So basically all you did was provide a statement from TD showing your current savings balance and had it authenticated and that was acceptable for them?

So David, did the document you provided simply look like a screen-cap from the internet with a branch stamp and teller signature on it? That's what I was given and I'm a little nervous about submitting it since it doesn't look all that official.

I was given the option of an official letter, which I may need to set up an account in the UK anyway, but I was curious if what I have is what you used.

Thanks!

Hello,
I am currently seeking as much advice as I can get on the YMS. I just recently discovered this was an option after applying for a visitor visa to the UK this past March. This application was refused because I failed to supply current documentation.
My questions are all over the place : PLEASE respond if you have any answers or guidance to any of them!
1. My previous application was a non-points based system General Visitor visa and it was refused. I originally applied as an unmarried partner because my British National boyfriend and I wanted to spend more time together living in the UK. I also appealed and this was invalid. Will this now affect my new visa application as a YMS?
2. Should I apply under YMS as a single applicant? My boyfriend has a house in the UK and I will be living there with him and 4 other roommates. Should I not mention the fact I have a boyfriend and apply as single?
3. About the 1600 pounds in the bank account. How long does that money have to be above or at that rate to be considered eligible for YMS? I'm a student and have just been paying off loans so my bank account flucuates! If I were to put a lump sum of money into my account before I applied...is that looked down upon?
4. Can I visit the UK anytime this summer as a general visitor for one to two weeks? How does my original refusal affect these trips abroad now?
5. And finally- I live six hours away from the nearest Worldbridge office.Does anyone know of any places in Saskatchewan that offer immigration advice?
HELP!
Thanks!!

1. It's never good to have a refusal in your immigration history, but since it's a completely different application, as long as you supply the required evidence you should be fine.

2.The fact that you have a British boyfriend is not relevant for YMS application. So yes you should apply as a single applicant.

3.The £1600 must be held in your bank account on the date of the application.

4. We recommend that you don't travel to the UK as a visitor while your application is being processed. To enter as a visitor you have to show your intention to return within 6 months, but the fact that you apply for a visa let's suppose that you have the intention to stay long-term so immigration officers are likely to refuse you entry. But if you apply for YMS in the next few weeks, you will probably get it in time for your planned holidays in the UK.

5. The visa application centres in Canada are Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Thanks! That information really helps.
To be clear, I need to fill out the forms by hand that are offered on the uk border site. (for YMS)
These are the VAF9 and Appendix 7 for YMS....Do i need to also apply as a Tier 5 temporary worker?

No, actually you have to apply online and print the application for the day of your appointment with Worldbridge.

Hi, This info is really helping me. I have some last things to ask....
On the online form it asks if I have had a refused application and I said yes. It also asks to write in the blank how "this application differs from the last". What should I put here? I was going to write how I previously applied as a dependant and now I'm applying as a single applicant. Should I not include this? Also, I was thinking of explaining how I didn't have the correct documents on the previous visa now I am prepared for this one. ALSO there isn't enough room to write in the blanks. Should I write a supporting document that aids my explanation?

Secondly, If I cannot fit in all the travel I have done in the past 10 years in the provided space, what should I do?

And lastly, what do I write in the small comment section that provides extra information about my application. I want to make it perfect! Thank you!
