I realise this post was a while ago so may no longer apply but. I see alot of mention about immigration solicitors, has anyone tried using the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to get help? It's a charitable organisation & they should have offices all across the
UK where you can call or walk in to get help at, keep in mind they have short weekday only hours for the most part, so check your local branch's opening hours before hauling everything up there with you.
They helped alot when I was going through a hard time dealing with landlords and rent laws I was unfamiliar with when I first moved over here, I also used their website as a reference to understand my legal obligations & rights regarding employment as I went through an unpleasant experience with the first job I had in this country and I felt I was being taken advantage of & needed to understand employment laws in the
UK. Not checked on their site in a while & don't know if they cover immigration questions but its worth a look, their help was invaluable to me in the first year I lived here
It could be worth a shot and less expensive. the other avenues I would look into if I were in your situation is to see if either the DWP (Department Work & Pensions) or the
UK Visa's websites have any info/help on their sites. I tend to check the FAQ sections once I've navigated to something relatively similar to my situation and quite often find my answers there.
But then, thats just me and I don't have money to throw at lawyers to line their pockets with, so those are the things I would try in your situation & thought I'd mention just in case
