HELP with letter for Un-married partner visa Application For

Post Tue Oct 25, 2005 5:41 am

My partner will be apply for the Un-married partner visa. Once we get to the UK we will be staying with friends until we get a place I have read we should get a letter from them to send of with the Application Forms agreeing that we can stay with them.
What should they write in this letter ?
Thanks

hello,

We had to do the same (british husband)because we were going to live with his parents at first.

They had to give us a document showing that the house belonged to them and in the letter they said that we could stay with them as long as we want (not time limit) so your friends should write this (or write if there is a time limit), they also made a description of the house (no of rooms) to show that the house was big enough for everybody!!!

It doesn't have to be a big letter just show that you have a suitable accommodation.

So from what you say your partner is British?

Your partner will also be considered your sponsor so your partner will have to demonstrate that he can support you financially.

My husband went back first in England to find a job in order to show that he could support me financially (he was in Canada on holiday for the past 3 months). He was previously working for his father (in England) but it was not "official" so he went back to find a job where he could have wage slips to show. If I remember it right he had to show the last 6 weeks of wage slips. So we waited that time before applying.
I did not have any jobs waiting for me in England but as I was working as a computer programmer I did not think I would have too much problems finding work.
It's really difficult to find a job before actually beeing there because they will want to meet you for an interview.

I think I must have applied (for my visa) at the end of Septembre 2000 and it took about 6-7 weeks to have the answer back.
Here are the documents I remember I had to send with the application:
- His wage slips and my wage slips
- Bank account statements (for both of us)

One time I phoned the home office to know how much money they expected us to have in our bank accounts but they said it depends of each case. So to give you an idea : I had about $6000 CAN and my husband did not have much at the time so a friend loan him £5000 (or £10000 ...not sure anynmore) to put in his bank account.

I also had a phone interview.
