Help with Molecular Biologist job title? Need Advice!!

Post Sat Jul 03, 2010 9:36 am

Hey everyone

I have a job offer as a part time DNA analyst/molecular biologist position at a molecular and genetic microbial source tracking company. I have a B.Sc with double majors in Biological science and Physical Sciences and near completion of a M.Sc in Forensic Sciences. My course work consists of alot of biology courses, including microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular cloning, general biology etc etc and my M.Sc thesis research consists mainly of molecular biochemistry and PCR which is exactly what I will be doing for this job.

Now will my job title fit with my degree? I am worried they will look at my biology degree and forensic science degree and say I am not fit for a molecular biologist position and I will not get a chance to explain my thesis research duties. forensic science consists of many disciplines and I basically specialize in the DNA/biology part of it through the courses I take and the 2 yrs of research Ive done although my degree title does not state that. Am I in trouble. will they accept this profession????
