Here's the question; can i get a German passport?

here's the question; i was born in Germany to Canadian parents (father was serving with the Canadian armed forces) we came back to canada when i was 2 ( am 44 years of age now)... am i eligible to obtain a German passport? and if so how?

No, you are not entitled to German citizenship unless one of your parents held German citizenship at the time of your birth.

Germany doesn't allow dual citizenship, if you got it you'd have to give up Canadian citizenship. Although getting German citizenship after you have Canadian citizenship, they may not do anything about it, but German citizens cannot have citizenship of another country.

Steven is partially right. You can only be a dual-citizen of Germany and another country if that other country is an EU country with which Germany has an agreement regarding dual citizenship. If, as a Canadian, you were to be naturalized as a German citizen, you would lose your Canadian citizenship.
