Hi from London, England

Post Wed Nov 17, 2004 2:22 pm

Hi
Here I am Bromley, London. Arrived a week ago from Ottawa. So far so good. Find the folk friendly. Only one BIG problem... where do I find International Delight Hazelnut for my coffee over here?

Hi there~

Moving to London (Bexley) on Saturday! Glad to hear you have survived the first week. I am so scared and excited I feel ill!

About Hazelnut thing- isn't there a store in Covent Garden that caters to Canucks missing their foodstuffs?

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the UK! Glad to hear your first week went well, hope it keeps up.
As for the hazelnut stuff, I don't drink coffee so I don't really know but there is a Canadian online shop:
http://www.canadianfavourites.com/
or you could also try:
http://www.cybercandy.co.uk/aaasmt/
and click on the American Buyers link.
Of course for all I know what you are looking for may be available here in shops!

Thanks for the replies.
Still searching for hazelnut but will resort to having a friend in Ottawa Fedex some to me if I start cracking up with withdrawal symptoms.

I may be moving to Bexley in February!

Woohoo Bexley!

I just arrived in Sidcup yesterday. Still doesn't seem real even though I am here!

Welcome to London mercyme. I think you arrived on the most miserable, coldest, greyest day imaginable. The weather is not usually that bad!

I have been here for 5 days and I am feeling quite overwhelmed. This is exhausting! And I haven't seen the sun yet!

Ah- things can only get better! :D

Yea..I hear ya. I have been here in London for over a month now. I have found actually living here is harder than I thought. Things are so different than Canada. Bank accounts, bills, internet hook-up, finding a job, food, last years tv shows, no one will let you do anything without proof of address, pubs closing at 11...etc. Just takes a while to get use to. But it is great and all an adventure. I am just glad I am not in the snow and freezing my butt off.
Loving it!! And so will you

Welcome

Welcome all - and this from a Canadian who has been here for over 4 years. Yes FOUR years. And at times, I can't believe it myself.

Please take your time in settling in - number 1 lesson. Paper work and the slowness of things can be a pain, and can make you feel a bit blue. This is normal. I wish I knew of this site when I came over as I was on my one - literally. But now, am settled, have a fab job, a nice flat and am getting on with things. Some of my family even came to live over here too! So for the first time in 4 years, have Xmas with family.

Well - I will check in every now and then. But am willing to offer whatever advice I can give. The first 6 months are the toughest - so please don't give up. It is worth it.

Hello Can2uk and mercyme. Welcome to South East London. I've been living here for just over 4 years now. I hope you enjoy living here. It does take a little getting use to, but London is a great city.

I'm not sure what kind of hazelnut stuff your talking about, but in Benji's on Bromly High Street they sell individual packets of flavoured syrups for coffee. It might be worth a try.
