Hi! tnx this site its awesome! i hope you could help me with my questions.
Ok, im mexican 29 years old, i became refugee here in canada and this april i got my permanent resident card, i have a 23 months old son, he was born here so he is canadian.
My problem is.that im going to get married next year with a wonderful man, he is canadian from living in Edmonton, and we want to go to mexico this december to visit my family and he wants to ask my family for their bless to get engaged with me and also meet my family, cause they cant travel here because of money issues. So he is thinking to take my son and me to mexico to see my family and pop the question.
The real question is.can i travel with him to mexico? i was a refugee but now a canadian resident, do i have to do any paper work to may travel to mexico and come back to canada? someone told me that i should have no problem going to mexico and coming back to canada as long as i go and come with a canadian citizen. Is this true?

Ok, i hope you could help me on this.

If you have your LPR card now, you should be able to come and go as you please.

yes i have it but when i went to receive it the immigration guy told me that i cant go back to mexico cause i applied as a refugee thats how i got my pr card. Ive known about people like me.refugees now accepted as a permanent residents that had traveled to mexico but they had to travel to another country first then fly to mexico, they say that way canadian customs wont notice they have been in mexico.
I just dont want to make this long trip with stops, will be more expensive and more time too.

I have no idea about refugee status at all, or what the laws are regarding LPR. I doubt many people here would. If you claimed refugee status to flee Mexico, I would have to wonder why you'd want to go back, if your life was in danger there in the first place.

Perhaps a consultation with an immigration lawyer who is familiar with refugee law would be a better idea than an internet forum.
