Hello all,
As a research scientist, I am sometimes asked (and it is part of my job to accept) to give talks, review chapters for commercial publications, and things like that. Most of these give honoraria in appreciation for the work. These honoraria come from companies or Universities other than the one named on my TN. I am having trouble determining if I am allowed to accept these - so far I have not but I am unclear what the rule actually is. I know that I can accept expense reimbursements from other sources, but so far I have asked 5 immigration lawyers, three say I can accept honoraria, two say no. I tried reading the treaty, but I couldn't sort it out.
Any help anyone can provide to clear this up for me would be greatly appreciated (especially if you say I can keep the money).
Thanks in advance
