I'm a canadian citizen, born in the netherlands.
I've been in canada since 1997 and a canadian citizen since 2000.
My wife (canadian citizen born in canada) and I want to move to groesbeck texas to live and work there, permanently.
What kind of visa or permits do i need, and where can i find reliable info?
Thanks.
Tim.

Why Grosbeck Texas? Do you already have jobs lined up? Or family there?

You'd need some sort of work authorized visa, and if you plan to stay indefinitely then you'd need some sort of dual intent visa, like an L or H. For an L visa, you'd need to be working for a Canadian company that has a US office that can transfer you. H visas are quota'd, and much harder to get. The quotas are usually all used up about 15 minutes after they open them up! A TN visa is not dual intent, and has to be renewed annually, so if you're planning to stay longer than that, its probably not what you're looking for.

Little more info from you would help us help you.

As for doing your own research, try the USCIS website, and Department of State website.

Yeah, I may have a job lined up there in the oil patch.
Thanks for the info.

Then the employer will need to sponsor you for some sort of visa, if you're qualified and the job is included in the NAFTA categories.
