First thing I would do is check with the german embassy. Give them a cal and see what visa you need. Probably a work visa of some sort? How long are you going for?

And as far as moving things, it depends on how much. You might be able to get a container on a ship, or if you don't have too much, you could mail it or pay to bring an extra suitcase on the flight.

The best way is to find a job before and have them to pay for your relocation.

But if it's not possible the advices above are good. Think also that the electricity is not the same so you need adapter or converter depending on the kind of things. If you don't have much stuff and your boyfriend is here you could consider selling some of your things and buying what you would need after. it might not be that more expensive than shipping your stuff. and it would be new Wink

I sold most of my stuff and travelled with two suitcases. Everything else went in storage.
As for finding a job, well, the one thing you'll get straight away is teaching English. There are tonnes of English Language schools in the big cities. They're mostly bastards (my experience) but it's a start. Until you find something which you like.
Arbeitamt is the official Ministry of emplyoment. Get registered there. Other than that, Manpower has offices in germany as do other personnel services like that. Last job I got was through manpower; they found my resume through the Arbeitsamt.
