How do we approach Companies/Recruiters?

Well, like an idiot I decided to up and leave Toronto to come to sunny LA. I've been here a week and have had no luck with the recruiters. I have an MBA and four years of good experience but have no idea how to approach recruiters and companies about the TN Visa. Any help would be much appreciated. Success stories are also welcome too as I am a little low in moral and could use the pick me up.
