I am curious about the car insurance cost in QLD as a female driver, with no accidents, and over 35? Does car insurance vary from state to state??

Car insurance is not compulsary in Australia. You will have to pay rego, which is mandatory. Insurance is compulsary if you have a lease or loan on your car.

Insurance varies by company and is a huge range depending on what you want covered, the car, your age, where you live, your use of the car, etc. I honestly can't even give you a ballpark figure. Best bet is to get a lot of quotes from various companies.

Car Insurance is compulsary in Australia, but not how you know it.

You are required to have Compulsary Third Party Insurance for those not involved but affected by the event.

You can then get option Comprehensive Insurance which insures your vehicle for damage.

You have many insurance providers in Australia (unlike BC) so can therefore shop around for the best deal.

As was stated by previous posters, the car registration process is comprised of both registration and compulsory third party (CTP). This covers bodily injury to all persons involved in a vehicular collision. You should make yourself aware of the legal requirements in Queensland.

A car with comprehensive insurance covers damage to the insured vehicle and any other property involved in the collision, theft, fire, certain damage by weather.

I just bought a 2 year-old more expensive car this week and my comprehensive coverage is under $52 aud per month and includes towing, meals and accommodation if I am in an accident in a semi-rural or rural area and away from my residence.

It varies from company to another. Aside from that, it varies also which type of insurance you get, whether the full or just the limited type whichever you think will answer your needs.

Car insurance is not compulsory but a necessity.
