How much is enough?

Post Sun Oct 17, 2010 5:22 pm

I make about $12,000 (CAN) per year from land rental and would like an opinion if this is enough money to live year round in Mexico. I'm a single guy, about 40 yrs. and would just like to rent a little place within 1 or 2 miles from the beach and relaaaaax. Thanks

It depends a lot on where. The high end spots in Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Acapulco among others would cost more than that for a year round rental, nevermind other living expenses. Smaller places off the beaten tourist path? Yes, 12,000 CDN a year would be very doable. I'd recommend Oaxaca or Chiapas states.

You should take a trip down to explore and get an idea as to prices. You'll always get better rates asking in person than what would be quoted online through agencies.
