How to buy a property in the U.S and what to do beyond 6 mon

Post Sat Dec 26, 2009 4:06 am

Merry Xmas everyone!

I have been contemplating about the idea to buy a home in the southern part of U.S and stay there for the winter time. By visiting this forum, it made me feel that it's definitely a do-able plan!!

Here are my questions:

1. What are the states that are popular for Canadian snow birds? How easy or hard to get DL? I see people talking about FL, are there any other states available?

2. I understand as a Canadian you can purchase U.S property and live down there for max 6 month or so. What do I do with my property after 6 month? For those of you that are expert in CA, can you share how you manage after 6 month?

Thanks alot!!

well for your first query i have a answer that Florida is talked a lot about as it is
# a world-renowned tourist destination, and the demand for holiday and vacation housing only gets more pronounced with each passing year.
# Florida remains the most desired place for older people to retire and enjoy their golden years
# Florida’s economy is active and diversified – hospitality & entertainment, technology, academia, military/defense, and many more – and the state is a prized location for corporations to do business.
# Moreover prices are cheap at this point of time
