how to enroll my canadian child in a Florida school

Postby blkmagic » Tue Oct 14, 2008 10:22 am

we have an opportunity to visit florida for the winter, and so i am trying to find out information on enrolling my 8yr old in a fort lauderdale school for the remainder of the school year (now til june). i was told that no child is denied entry to schoolregardless of citizenship - however, what is the easiest way to go about it? As his parents we are not american citizens, nor is our son. any info. would be greatly appreciated on the process. i would like to avoid the paper work if possible and do more of an under the table approach as i will not be working while there.

We relocated to CA this summer and we didn't have any visas because of delay with papers. For registration our kid (8 grade)in local school they just asked us about some proof of residency (we showed them rental agreement),vaccination records(we didn't have it ) school transfer (we took it from our Canadian school), and birth certificate. If you don't have a school transfer its not a catastrophe, fill the info about previous school, name, address, contacts.
Thats it.

Good luck!
