How to Get Dual Canadian/British Passport

Post Sat Sep 29, 2007 9:26 pm

I was born in Scotland but when I moved to Canada as a child I became a Canadian citizen and now hold a Canadian passport. I moved to the USA a few years ago. I want to know how I go about holding a dual Canadian/British passport? Can someone send me the link that gives me all the application info? Does this mean I hold two passports? Is it easy to get? Do I contact the British Embassy to do this or Canadian? AHHHHHHHHHHH!

but why?

I'm by far not the most "canadian" of people, but the canadian passport is one of the best really when it comes to visas and stuff.

But if you want to live and work in Europe or the UK, a UK passport will make that easier.

You'd have to contact passport office. Here is their website http://www.passport.gov.uk/

There is no such thing as a "dual passport". You will have to have 2 passports and citizenships. Canadian and UK.

No it's not, it's only valid for 5 years and it's much harder to renew overseas than a UK passport. The real advantage of a Canadian passport is that it makes travel to the US much easier.

I thought that if you were born in a country then you are guaranteed to be able to get a passport for that country.

But you still have to apply for it and keep it up to date.
