Husband is US citizen

Post Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:22 am

Hi, I really need some help. My husband is a US Citizen, and he is currently living in the USA. I am Canadian, and we have a 3 month old son who was born in Canada. I want to move to the USA with our son, and live with my husband. I don't understand what to do.

First of all, I can not get in touch with customer service at USCIS at all, so I don't have any one to answer my questions. I found this website: http://www.globaltransitinc.com/contacts.php

I phoned and spoke to a woman, and I explained the situation to her. She told me about something you can see on their website called spousal sponsorship. I have never heard of this before and can't seem to find anything online about it. She told me to enter the USA as a visitor and then there are forms I can apply for from within the USA, that their company/or another company can get to me and help me fill out.

I thought you could not go to the USA as a visitor and then apply to stay there?
What do I do?

Just to be clear:
1. I am Canadian. Husband is American.
2. We were married in Canada.
3. Son was born in Canada. - Which brings me to my last question... does my son have US citizenship as well? How do I get his US citizenship?

Go to visajourney.com and educate yourself.

You will need spouse to sponsor you to move to US.
Your son is US citizen.

visajourney.com Since your MARRIED, you wil be filing for the CR-1 or IR-1 Visa! Same Paperwork process!! CR-1 if ur married for less than 2 yrs and the IR-1 is married for 2 yrs or more. With the Ir-1, U GET A 10 YR GREENCARD, CR-1 is like only 2 yrs!!

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum ... rocedures/

READ the GUIDE at the top of the link I posted! Take ur time and read over the CR_1 forum. LOTS of info and its all free!!! Even a Canada section to hang out in!!

1 can NOT goto the USA with the INTENTION of styaing!! If out of the blue you decided to stay, that would be fine. But In ur case you are informed, lol We only offer legal advice here. Do Cdns (and others) goto the USA and knowingly stay and then just AOS, yes!! Get caught, which is probably on the low side, but, ur then in a world of hurt!!

The CR-1 process is not fast, 7-12 months! Seems to be getting faster though! Saw a Canuck on VJ and it took them 7 months! BUT some get lucky and go through the process faster than others! The process is NOT hard, its the waiting thats the pain! Your Interview will be in Montreal! Mtl handles ALL cr-1/Ir-1 visas!

You can still visit!! BUT it is up to the USA POE official! So ensure u bring ties to Canada, to prove u wil be returning! Return airfare ticket, lease, utility bills, letter from employer, Immigration paperwork, etc etc.

Lots of info on VJ!! Cheers

You show up at the border like that gal suggested, you may be facing a ban! The legal way is what I said above!! Guess what happens to that person that recommended that info to you, if u get banned? Nothing, she sleeps soundly, while your seperated from ur husband!! Take the time and read VJ!! No 1 cares more about ur situation than YOU!!!

Nope!! k3 has pretty much gone the way of the dodo bird!!!

http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare
k3 and the cr-1/Ir-1 were taking the same amt of time!! SOOOOO when u look at the above link, why would u want to do k3? Its a crappier visa and costs more!! At 1 time, u could just apply fir both and then go with the 1 that came around first, just cost u more $$$$$$$. But not really the case now!

sent u a private message
